Vibration Analysis

The Pruftechnik VibXpert data collector with OmnitrendSoftware is also utilized to perform vibration analysis on a multitude of equipment. Our technicians can analyze collected data and provide reports that identify problems in the very early stages of failure. Trending this data over periods of time is also a powerful tool, allowing our customers to schedule repairs, thereby avoiding downtime and costly emergency repairs.

Vibration Monitoring

Vibration Monitoring is one of the most useful Condition Monitoring techniques available to maintenance technicians as early identification of problems such as Imbalance, Bearing Faults, Misalignment and Gear Tooth Mesh problems are critical factors in ensuring and extending the working life of machinery.

Rotating Mechanical Solutions use Vibration Monitoring to monitor the health of rotational equipment.

This involves the trending and analysis of certain machinery performance parameters to detect and identify developing problems before failure occurs, causing extensive damage. The detection and diagnosis of faults before they become a problem is obviously the most desirable way to maintain machinery. An effective condition-monitoring program will help to detect faults at an early stage such as when rolling element bearing defects are still minor and do not affect the performance of the machine. This allows time to analyze the problem while the machine stays online and production continues normally. This advance warning allows for planning of the repair at a convenient time.

Condition Monitoring: Temperature, Vibration & Pressure

Optimize Your Operations with Condition Monitoring

As part of a comprehensive Asset Management Strategy, Condition Monitoring is a proactive process that tracks key machinery parameters—such as temperature, vibration, or pressure— to detect significant changes that signal potential equipment failures. By identifying these issues early, maintenance can be scheduled or corrective actions taken to prevent costly downtime or catastrophic failures.

Why Choose Condition Monitoring?

Condition Monitoring is a cornerstone of Predictive Maintenance, offering several key advantages over reactive or “run-to-failure” maintenance strategies:

  • Early Fault Detection: Monitor deviations from baseline conditions (e.g., vibration patterns or temperature levels) to identify issues before they lead to equipment failure.
  • Cost Efficiency: Reduce direct maintenance expenses by addressing problems proactively, avoiding emergency repairs or part replacements.
  • Minimized Downtime: Prevent unscheduled production halts caused by in-service failures, ensuring maximum operational efficiency.
  • Improved Equipment Longevity: Regular monitoring helps maintain optimal machinery performance, extending the lifespan of critical assets.

How Does Condition Monitoring Work?

Using advanced tools and technologies, Condition Monitoring measures key indicators to assess the health of your equipment. By analyzing these metrics over time, our experts can identify trends that signal wear or degradation, allowing precise interventions before a failure occurs.

A major component of predictive maintenance, is a process of monitoring a parameter of condition in machinery.

Electric Motor Evaluation

Online testing (performed while the motor is in operation) and offline testing (performed on de-energized motors) can provide critical information on the overall health and condition of an electric motor, including insulation testing (resistance to ground and capacitance to ground), motor circuit analysis, and power quality.

Based on the results of these tests, recommendations can be made as to what corrective actions need to be made.
